BABYLON I, THE “IMPERIAL” WORKSHOP
Silver fifth stater (fifth tetradrachm), Alexandrine type
SC 84Ad (17mm, 3.21gm.)
Obv.: Head of young Heracles r. in lion skin headdress, dotted border.
Rev.: No inscription, club quiver and bow.
Reference: Künker 94, 27 September 2004, lot 686.
Given that the weights of this coin (3.21g) and the three others previously published (SC 84, with Η to r.: Price 3705, 3.19g.; CNG 93, 22 May 2013, lot 489, 2.79g.; Triton 9, lot 1000, 3.40g.) do not conform easily to the Macedonian standard used from Archelaos through Philip II, another standard seems possible.
